The Latest Milestone
Posted on May 12th, 2009 by Richard
We are one million man-hours to go.
This morning we reviewed the latest progress report and noticed that we have crossed the threshold for the last million man-hours of construction left on the ship.
These milestones are all arbitrary and have no particular significance other than they are fun reminders of how close we are getting.
Close? A million man-hours still seems like a long way to go!

I continue to be totally fascinated with your business and look forward to continuing to “listen” to the progress made not only on Oasis but all the other parts of RCL’s business

Hi all,
I’m determined to get an answer to my question so here we go again…
Just wondering, with the ship being all outside and my worry lies in central park. With a lot of follage and a lot of outdoor restaurants how will RCI keep birds away from more or less living on the ship and causing havoc?

Anthony,
There are plenty of spots on current Royal Caribbean ships that birds could make a home out of, however on all the cruises I have been on, I have not once seen a bird anywhere. Most of the time the ships are spent out in the middle of the oceans where the nearest bird is several miles away. While the ships are not out at sea, they are docked at port. I haven’t seen many birds making a home in the vicinity of where the ships dock either. I don’t think the new Central Park will have an issue with birds, and although more of the ship will be exposed to the elements, previous ships do have outdoor elements and haven’t had a problem, in the least, with birds.

Lets all make a note on Gensesis which is consistent with innovation, technology and vision. None of this would be possible if it werent for one key executive who is ahead of his time and sees what others cannot imagine. Thats Mr. Richard Fain. This one man has set the standards for indusrty quality and innovation and like Bill Gates of Microsoft has the vision for RCCL. He has assembled a team of giants in the indusrty to perform a mission that noone could imagine for the cruise industry. Without his leadership the company would not be were it is today. Mr. fain should be recognized as Visonary Leader of Cruising Industry

Mr. Fain will RCCL be making a film on the making of Oasis like it did on making of the Voyager class ship. These films are exellent for college classrooms and show the critical componenets of planning, innovation, design and the process of using PERT and other managerial techniques to bring a project from idea to completion.
thanks

Hello Mr. Fain,
I have a question about the Oasis that I’ve been wondering about for awhile now. I’m not sure if you have answered it before. Why is it that on this ship there is no deck 13? Is it a ship building superstition or possibly something on deck 13 that hasn’t been revealed yet?
Thank you for your time!

I just wanted you to know I am changing my cruise from the Carnival Dream to the Oasis of the Seas. There couldn’t be a better ‘birthday cruise’ for each of my grandchilren than this beautiful ship.
What you are showing us is light years ahead of the Dream weather its photos, videos or description. I hope you will have the stateroom photos soon as I’m waiting for that to book our April cruise.
