The Ship is Only Part of the Story

Most of you who are reading this blog are experienced Royal Caribbean cruisers.  And you know that, while we are very proud of our ships and the innovations they contain, we are even more proud of the outstanding crews who have always been the backbone of our reputation.  They work long and hard at jobs that are very demanding and yet, they somehow do it with an expertise and an attitude that makes it all seem so easy.  I am constantly in awe of what they do and will be forever grateful.

Whence Cometh The Car on the Royal Promenade?

As most of you know (if you don’t know, why are you reading this blog?) most of our Voyager and Freedom class ships have a Morgan sports car in the Royal Promenade.  I have been asked to explain whence it comes.

The Latest Milestone

We are one million man-hours to go.

This morning we reviewed the latest progress report and noticed that we have crossed the threshold for the last million man-hours of construction left on the ship.

These milestones are all arbitrary and have no particular significance other than they are fun reminders of how close we are getting.

Close? A million man-hours still seems like a long way to go!

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

The old saying is one of the great traditions of a wedding ceremony.  It is not a maritime tradition, but seafarers have always thrived on tradition even if it’s not theirs.  In the case of Oasis, we have just decided upon a piece of history and tradition that I find fun and exciting.
